Web Page Title specifies the title of your Web page and it’s one of the most important SEO factors. You may think that everybody knows this basic thing, but you would be surprised how much webmasters are using this SEO factor in a wrong way.
I had experience recently when young lady contacted me and said that she cannot find her website in google on any keywords that are truly matters for her business. It was little funny in the moment, so I went through her website to see what is going on and the huge mistakes I have found on the website are;
- web page title tag says “Welcome to Donald Duck”
- her website was about kids birthday party, kids celebration, playroom, fun etc. and has nothing to do with Donald Duck, except it was name of here company. - she used images for logo without any alt text or description
- you could hardly find one or two keywords on her website that she wants to competitive in google search
There were lot of other mistakes or skips, but to make web site title tag wrong was the biggest mistake anyone can do.
Here is an example of good web page title tag (in this case):
<head>
<title> Kids Playroom For Birthday Celebration and Party</title>
</head>
Be careful when you chose you title tag for your website because your website will be recognized by search engines and the most important, by visitors. If you are selling furniture, than put it in a first plan: “Buy Best Furniture at Affordable Price” or something like that. Don’t use bad title tag like “Johns Company – Welcome” unless you want to have website that no one will find when they use google, yahoo or any other search engine to buy some furniture.
Web page title tag is:
- displayed in search resaults
- displayed by the visitor’s browser
- used by the major search engines as the most important piece of information

Another very important thing to include in the title tag now is the Synonyms of your keywords, it helps better focus on the theme of your web page, and each page should have different keywords for the products or services, etc for that page! Back to synonyms: keyword density used to be the way webmasters would try to get better optimization; whoever mentioned the keyword got higher ranking… now Google and the other major search engines have scraped that for synonyms because they are more concerned with relativity, thus if you mention other related words in your title tags, you can rank higher than your competitors….
Hi John, i see that title tag on your page is awesome :))
Good notice Davor. You see, this is not good example for standard Web Page Title Tag.
Most Search Engine can show up to 65 characters (inckuding spaces). There is no need to exceed this limit since visitors cannot know about what is the title of your webpage.
